Youth Outreach Focus Group
Haley Freeborn(540) firstname.lastname@example.org
The Youth Outreach Focus Group is focused on involvement of community middle and elementary schools with NHS. Future service projects could include tutoring the middle schoolers, mentorship programs, volunteering at seasonal festivals, etc.
Student Body Focus Group
Dena S. Maroof(540) email@example.com
The Student Body/New Student Focus Group will be partially focused on welcoming non-freshman new students and exchange students to Blacksburg High School. Committee members will give tours to new students and answer their questions. Members will also check in with the new students in the first few school weeks to ask if they need any help or have questions. Overall, the committee will ensure that new students feel more comfortable about starting at Blacksburg. This committee will also organize and assist with projects involving the student body as a whole in addition to helping fundraise and volunteer for other student run activities.
Event Coordination Focus Group
The Event Coordination focus group will work closely with the officer team on planning and organizing all of NHS’ large fundraising events during the year. Some examples of events we will help with are Bruin Fest and the Rummage Sale.
International Awareness Focus Group
Gemma Brizzolara(857) firstname.lastname@example.org
The International Awareness Focus Group works towards making Blacksburg High School more culturally aware and welcoming, and further helps our staff and associated students with any necessary type of volunteering. Working closely with teachers and students, projects require weekly commitment, and encompass a variety of different services, such as helping ESL students with classwork, and organizing in-school events or fairs.
Academic Focus Group

The main goal of the Academics focus group is improve the NHS tutoring service. We effectively organize the service and promote it better. Furthermore, we collaborate with teachers in order to reach and help more students. Another goal is to volunteer at different education related events. Lastly, we plan on creating an SAT prep tutoring service, which will be held 1-2 times a month and will go over certain aspects of the test.
Athletics Focus Group
Tate Pospichal(540) firstname.lastname@example.org
The Athletics Focus Group focuses on athletic events that need volunteer help. Some examples are tournaments, track meets, and concession stands.
Community Cultural Focus Group
Vishvesha Sridhar(208) email@example.com
The Cultural Focus Group will work on extending NHS volunteering into different cultural organizations in our local community. Students will help volunteer at student run organizations at Tech and international schools. The goal of this group is to step out of our comfort zone and gain new experiences to spread cultural awareness.
Collection Focus Group
Nola Scott(540) firstname.lastname@example.org
